Rather than have a New Years resolution that I won't keep, I am making goals for just this week!
1. Eat beans every day
2. Wake 15 minutes before the kids
3. Declutter for 15 min. A bag a day
4. Post something for sale on Ebay
Here's why:
1. I recently read that beans can reduce cholesterol, and my husband could use all the help he can get. It runs in his family. Also, I have been bogged done by some nutritional don'ts lately, and I feel empowered to add healthy things, rather than try to cut out some favorites right now.
2. Imagine what I could get done. Oh, for the will power to actually get out of bed before someone is calling for me. I could be dressed, or I could be showered, or I could be reading or eating. The possibilities are endless.
3. I have joined the 40 day challenge - 40 bags in 40 days to coincide with lent. It does not matter how much stuff I get rid of, there is always more and more stuff. Luckily my husband has gotten into the spirit this time, and we may actually see the floor of our basement by the time this is over.
4. I have boxes of stuff that I want to sell on Ebay that have just been sitting there. Maybe if I just sell one thing, it might motivate me to sell, sell, sell. Although just giving away stuff has really been fun.

What a great idea. Over at my blog, I have a habit / goal for the month. It's really nice to have a more manageable handle on things that way; easier to attain!
ReplyDeleteOn that #1, consider adding a little bottle of Beano to your grocery/drugstore list! To save money, try to get by with just one for each serving of beans. High fiber is great, but you have to get used to it!
ReplyDeleteI want to sell some stuff on e-bay also but I haven't even packed it into the box...so there your one step ahead of me...are you motivated? ;O)
ReplyDeleteJust passing threw the UBP '09, glad I stopped by. It's so nice to meet so many new people. Enjoy the rest of your week ;O)
Blessings!
Interesting blog, I like that you are trying to reduce your living costs. Beans should help with that, too! :)
ReplyDeleteI live in Guatemala (Canadian expat) and we are a family of 4. We`ve survived on as little as $500 a month, though at the moment we are doing much better than that and investing in a bathroom. So, it can be done! Love the ideas here.
Love the idea of weekly goals or monthly goals. Maybe this could be a new meme.
ReplyDeleteHi. I'm blog hoppig via the Ultimate Blog Party. Nice to meet you.
Hello! I came over from the Blog Party! I love how you're trying to save. We try to live frugally too. I am following one gal who is trying to only spend $1200 a year total for her family. So, yes, I think you can do this!
ReplyDeleteForgot to mention I am subscribing. I always love reading frugal blogs as it continues to motivate me in my own goals.
ReplyDeleteI'm just jumping over from the UBP. I love your list for the week, especially #2. I've tried that but one of my kids always seems to beat me. :-) I'm intriged by your experiment and will have to pop in again to see how it's going. Enjoy the party. Cheers,
